Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

 

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

Leadership: Find a person you would like to learn more about.  Read a book about them. Find more out about them on the internet.

Come to class ready to present about them. Dress like them. Show us about their life and what they did.  Why did you pick them? Be creative and fun in showing us who this person is and what they have accomplished. HAVE FUN!

Class Time:  Depending on the weather, we may go birding.  Please bring binoculars and a jacket.  We will be spending time at the church and the Fontano home.

Passover:  We will be joining the Vanguard for a Passover meal.  Ask your sibling in Vanguard to explain to you what the Passover is.

Watch episodes 19 and 20 on Amazon Prime - Kids Animated History Kids-Animated-History 

Take a poll.  Go ask each of your family members what is one of their favorite Bible Stories.   Write down their response. Bring that paper to class.  Have each family member tell you about their favorite bible story.  When we get to class we will add them all up and see the results.  

What is your favorite Bible story?  Come prepared to present it to us.  Make is fun and interesting.  Read the actual story in the Bible.  Ask others to tell it to you.  Learn more about it than you already know. Study it out.

Watch either The 10 Commandments (1956) or Ben Hur (1959).  These are each about 3 hours. Vanbucks if you watch both.

If your mom allows you to watch more movies for extra Vanbucks then watch The Prince of Egypt, Joseph: King of Dreams, or The Living Scriptures Old Testament Videos. 

This is a lot of movie watching.  You're welcome😆.    These movies are to help you learn about the Ancient Israelites. Next week we will be having a Passover meal.

Poetry: Recite all of the poems learned so far.  Memorize the 4th verse of hymn 89, "The Lord is my Light":

The Lord is my light, my all and in all.

There is in his sight no darkness at all.

He is my Redeemer, my Savior, and King.

With Saints and with angels his praises I’ll sing.

How has the Lord been a light for you or for someone you know? Ask several people to share how Jesus Christ has lifted or helped them. Think of your own personal experiences and favorite scripture stories. Ask immediate and extended family members and/or friends. It might be helpful to ask the question and give them time to think. Maybe send a text or email and arrange a time to call to hear their response. Come prepared to share (be sure to ask permission of the person whose story you want to tell us).  

Writing: Write a letter or note to someone you admire.  It could be a relative, friend, neighbor, etc.  Tell them what you appreciate about them. Thank them for their good example.  Hand deliver or mail the letter.  

Imaginative Arts: Get creative in the kitchen! Cook a recipe and, if possible, bring a sample to share. Tell why you chose that recipe, what was hard about it and what you learned. Will you make it again? Why or why not? What type of food would you like to try to make next?

Go to the library and get 10 books about central or South America,  Look at the books and come prepared to share some of the cool things you have learned. You will earn Vanguard money for interesting facts.

Choose any country to learn about in more detail and present to us. You can work on the same country as your siblings, or you can choose a different country. You will have 1-2 minutes to tell us all about your country. You can present it as a report, or do a slideshow, or make a poster, or draw pictures, or do anything you like to make it how you like it.

You could include things like:                                                            

• The country's capital
• Picture of the flag
• When did they become a country?
• The country motto
• The country nickname
• An interesting fact
• A famous landmark
• What is the climate?
• What kind of weather do they have?
• What do they grow?
• Show us where it is on a map
• Someone famous that lived there or still lives there.

If you want to do a little more, you can bring something to share like a portion of food from that country, or some display items if you know someone that has been there or something the country is known for doing like making clothes or plastic or anything else you can think of.

You will earn Vanguard money for being prepared!
