Poem: Review the poems learned so far. Memorize the second stanza of this poem:

My Shadow

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.

The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow—
Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow;
For he sometimes shoots up taller like an india-rubber ball,
And he sometimes gets so little that there's none of him at all.
Writing: Write Isaiah 55:8-9 in your best handwriting. There is a copy in your folder or you can write it on a blank paper.

Scripture: Finish memorizing Isaiah 55:8-9
For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Song: Review My Country, 'Tis of Thee. Practice the first two verses of "America the Beautiful." Here is a sing along video the help you! (Second verse ends at 1:40.)

Oh, beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties

Above the fruited plain!

America! America!

God shed his grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea.

Oh, beautiful for pilgrim feet,

Whose stern, impassioned stress

A thoroughfare of freedom beat

Across the wilderness!

America! America!

God mend thine ev’ry flaw,

Confirm thy soul in self-control,

Thy liberty in law.

Discovery: Please complete Mapping Assignment #3.  Bring them to class.  Bring your folder.

Imaginative Arts: What do you love about America? Create art inspired by one of your favorite places in America. This could be a painting, drawing, sculpture, poem, collage, song, etc. It could also be a travel ad for a place that you haven't been but would like to visit. Use your imagination! Help us get excited about a new place to visit!
